Ah, Hello World. The proverbial first steps on a long, code-centric journey.
This assignment is to be done individually.
During class on 1/24/2011, each student will show me their working code and will receive a grade and feedback immediately.
We will be using github for this assignment. Our repository is on github here: hello-world.
Here's how to set up your branch of the repository:
Replace [USERNAME] with your Olin ID
Please use a convention like rails-mchang and android-mchang to differentiate platform.
cd dotcom_class_directory git clone -o github firstname.lastname@example.org:olin-dotcom/hello-world.git cd hello-world git checkout -b [USERNAME] mkdir [USERNAME] echo "USERNAME" > [USERNAME]/README git add [USERNAME] git commit -am 'first commit' git push github [USERNAME]
Now, you should see the following, which indicates that we have created and are using the rails-mchang branch in this example:
mac-chang:hello-world mchang$ git branch master * rails-mchang mac-chang:hello-world mchang$
